Curious what daily life looks like for volunteers in Koh Ker? Check out Hannah’s daily routine from a week spent volunteering and checking in on PLF’s programs at Koh Ker Primary, Romchek Primary, and Srayang Dormitory. Great adventures always start with breakfast!
6:00am Breakfast with the roosters (so to speak) at the guesthouse
6:15am Hop on the back of field director Sothea’s moto and head out to school
6:45-7:15 Morning routine: students sweeping classrooms, washing hands, eating breakfast, brushing teeth
7:15-7:20 Flag ceremony
7:20-8:20 1st Class: Math
8:20-8:30 Break: Marbles
8:30-9:30 2nd Class: Library
9:30-9:40 Break: Pick-up sticks
9:40-10:40 3rd class: Khmer
11-12 Supplementary 4th Class: English
12-1 Free time to take the scenic route with Sothea along the temple route, lunch at the guesthouse
1-2 Level 1 English class with Sothea at Srayang Dormitory
2-4 Free time to relax, nap, go to wifi restaurant to make lesson plans
4-5 Level 2 English class with Sothea at Srayang Dormitory
5-7 Free time to watch the sunset, dinner at the guesthouse
7-8:30 Games/learning activities with Srayang students
9pm Out like a light
