ADVOCATE BLOG: Working with Koh Ker Students to Help Start a Trekking Business

The summer of 2013 marked my fourth year in Cambodia volunteering for The Ponheary Ly Foundation (PLF). Amongst the whirlwind of things we aimed to accomplish, perhaps the most meaningful, was working with two PLF students from Koh Ker village to help launch their idea for a business: adventure treks for tourists in Koh Ker. For those that have never visited Koh Ker and would like to help PLF in a different way, I would highly recommend taking one of these amazing treks.  (more…)

ADVOCATE BLOG: Look What She Did!

Next month, I am traveling with my family to Cambodia for what started out as simply a vacation. When I learned we would be staying at a B&B run by Ponheary Ly, I became interested in her foundation and the work it does. At first I thought that meeting her would just be an inspiring glimpse of what someone incredible was doing to change lives. What I didn’t realize at the time was that I could take action, in my own small way, to change the lives of girls like me. (more…)

An Epic PLF Fundraiser: 10,000 Miles Across South America!

Eyes Open & PLF: Addressing Food Insecurity

The Ponheary Ly Foundation promotes access to public educational opportunities and the health and well-being of children and young people in Cambodia’s Siem Reap and Preah Vihear provinces.

We believe that in order for children to learn, they must have food security, a stable place to live, transport to school, and access to medical care — the same everyday supports that should be afforded to children throughout the world.  (more…)
